40 Year old Zelkova Forest Bonsai: Drastic Modification!

My Zelkova (Japanese Grey Bark Elm) Bonsai Forest was overgrown and I decided it was time to prune. Where to cut? Drastic Trunk Chop was needed in order to create taper, movement and in general grow a good Bonsai trunk. I cut back deep into the main trunks to build better trunklines, fewer ugly bulges and completely start over. I have a separate video on repotting this zelkova forest:    • Improving a Zelkova Bonsai Forest (Adding ...   More forest videos: Bonsai Forest Design using Larch:    • Bonsai Forest Design | Building a Larix fo...   Rebuilding a Spruce Bonsai Forest over 2 years:    • Bonsai Forest Development | 2 years Spruce   0:00 Overgrown to new Zelkova forest 0:45 Bonsai Forest Design: Something is wrong 2:00 Trunk Chopping Bonsai Forest 3:55 Air layer Zelkova Bonsai 4:10 The cut-offs, and pruning 6:05 Zelkova Airlayer Success 6:55 Closing Trunk Chops on Zelkova Bonsai 9:10 Year 2 10:05 Directional Pruning Zelkova Bonsai Forest 12:00 More trunk chops 12:45 Spring year 3 Sacrifice reduction 15:20 Zelkova Forest Design Vision 16:10 Zelkova has an annoying growth habit! 17:50 Can you believe this growth? 18:28 Cleaning Trunk Chops for Healing 21:55 Zelkova Forest Design Decision 23:16 Spring Year 4 24:35 Have The Trunk Chops Healed?
