VW Crafter Self Build Ep19: Heating Installed / Moonbox Titan / For My Dad | DIY Campervan 2026

❤️ An apology, a tribute, and the toughest episode yet | Heating installed | Moonbox Titan | Festival trip Welcome back to our VW Crafter self-build campervan conversion. Episode 19 is a very different kind of episode, and I want to start by apologising for the recent silence on the channel. As I explain at the start of the video, my father passed away unexpectedly recently. It has been an incredibly difficult few weeks. We were actually en route to a festival in the van when I received the news. After going to see him for the last time, we made the decision to continue to the festival because I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that it is exactly what he would have wanted me to do. It was a messy, emotional weekend — I drank too much, cried a lot, and eventually got lost, but thanks to the incredible kindness of two complete strangers, I found my way back to the van. Thank you, whoever you were. This episode is dedicated to my dad. ❤️ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🛠️ WHAT'S IN THIS EPISODE Despite the circumstances, we did get a huge amount done in the run-up to the festival: ✔️ Heating & hot water — we take a trip to Campervans en le Frith to have a Bobil hydronic heating and hot water system installed. Three days later, we pick it up, and it's brilliant. ♨️ ✔️ Van Concept bulkhead surround — it finally arrives! We carpet and fit this, which beautifully finishes off the bare metal that was previously visible by the sliding doors. ✔️ Mains power socket — we decide to run in another mains power socket so the Victron IP65 can be used to trickle charge the van when required (at least until we finally get that VW software update done!). ⚡ ✔️ Grey water plumbing — we drill more holes in the bottom of the van for the waste water hose from the sink to the grey water tank. We have a slight leak initially but manage to sort it out. 💧 ✔️ Extractor fan — we finally get the extractor fan working, using a temporary workaround with some aluminium ducting to get a seal between the two parts of the van. ✔️ Nearside panelling — the nearside wooden panel is lined with foam and 4-way stretch carpet and finally fitted into place. ✔️ Moonbox Titan — the massive Vandermoon Moonbox Titan gets fitted! ✔️ Screens & ceiling — the Cerbo GX screen and SavvyVan are fitted (though we forgot to hit record for the SavvyVan bit!), and the rest of the acoustic ceiling goes in. ✔️ Mattress drama — the bed mattress arrives just in time, but it's the wrong size! A huge thank you to Ben at Mattress Made, who kindly sent a replacement out straight away. 🛏️ ✔️ VW software update — we can also finally confirm that the long-awaited VW software update has been completed!
