Out on the kayak chasing fish with the brand new Nexusphere Phantom jigging rod, the goal was simple… hook a BIG one and really test what this rod can handle. I was jigging with the Nexusphere Concept 60g jig, picking up a few decent smaller fish along the way, but eventually I hooked into something SERIOUS on a light setup. Unfortunately the fish came on the Nexusphere Ocean Hunter, and it turned into one of the most intense fights I’ve had on the kayak in quite a while. Even better — I actually had a previous session where I hooked a massive fish on the Phantom but lost it… and unfortunately lost the footage too 😩 So this felt like redemption.
