250610 | DIVE LOGS #2095-2096 | Dusk Diving Staggies - Apartments and Sharky Trough | Mindarie, WA

AQUATIC AUSTRALIA - STORIES FROM THE DEEP This film is part of the Aquatic Australia visual dive logbook, a growing archive of real dives recorded across Australian Waters. ABOUT THIS FILM Today we were diving out of Mindarie, WA about 36km / 30mins North of Perth with "Western Blue Diver Charters" a company I've been diving with since about 2012 through 3 owners. While Rottnest is my favourite area, Mindarie's outer reefs called "Staggies" are my 2nd. On this day, 10th June 2025 we did a dusk dive. The first dive was at a lovely site with lots of holes and caves called "The Apartments" (Staggies Reef) in the afternoon with lovely light. The second dive we dived at dusk on a site I'd dived before and suggested to the skipper Kevin who was up for trying it after the dive he named it Sharky's Trough. Dusk diving is great you get lots of fish as the day shift is going to bed and the night shift is waking up - there is enough light to see but not that much so that your torch fills out the world with vivid colour without being limited to the area of the beam. I got (I think) some lovely photos on this dive and saw soo many great fish.
