He marches toward the rugged, snow-clad, towering peaks of Mount Ashtapad (the ancient scriptural name for the Kailash range). The term Ashtapad literally means 'Eight Steps,' referencing the massive, steep, terrace-like geographic formations of the mountain that made it nearly inaccessible to ordinary humans. He is accompanied by a massive retinue of 10,000 pure ascetics (Sadhus) who are also ready to shed their physical bodies alongside their Guru. 2. The Shaileshi Karana: Becoming like a Mountain On the icy plateau of Ashtapad, Adinath Dada enters the final, most advanced stage of meditation known as Shaileshi Karana. Meaning: Shaileshi comes from Shaila (Mountain). It means to make the soul absolutely unmoving, rock-solid, and completely impenetrable, exactly like a mountain. Process: In this state, all activities of the mind, speech, and body are completely shut down. The soul enters a state of hyper-compression. Within the time span it takes to utter just five short vowels (a, i, u, r, l), the heat of this intense internal meditation burns away the absolute final traces of physical matter. On Magha Krishna Chaturdashi under the Abhijit Nakshatra, the First Tirthankara becomes a Siddha—eternally liberated at Siddhashila. 3. The Agni-Sanskar by the Devas and the Grief of Bharata The moment Dada achieves Nirvana, millions of celestial gods (Devas), led by Indra, descend upon the snows of Kailash. They prepare a divine palanquin and perform the sacred rites using celestial fire. The fire leaves no ordinary ash or bone; the physical form dissolves back into the natural elements. Emperor Bharata witnesses his father's final earthly departure and stands upon Kailash in profound silence. 4.
