Geology of the Calaveras Fault- California's CREEPIEST Fault Line

In this episode of Solomon's Outdoor Adventures, Solomon dives deep into the geology of the Calaveras Fault- California's creepiest fault line. The Calaveras Fault is a 76-mile long fault line that runs from Hollister through the East Bay up to the city of Danville. It is a part of the greater San Andreas Fault System, forming a portion of the transform plate boundary between the Pacific and North American Plates in California. The Calaveras Fault is creepy for a number of reasons, including its aseismic creep and its status as one of the most dangerous fault lines in the state of California. Portions of the Calaveras Fault exhibit aseismic creep as they continuously move without causing earthquakes, especially in the town of Hollister, but other portions of the fault are stuck and building up tension. The Calaveras Fault threatens millions of people across the San Francisco Bay Area, and if it were to rupture, the results could be disastrous. Watch the video to learn more about this!!!
