An Anthem for Compassion (John Schimminger)

An Anthem for Compassion (John Schimminger) Music and words by John Schimminger Performed by the Sheltering-In (Virtual) Choir of FPC Downey Remote contributions from: Rebecca King Sommer - soprano Julmina Elizabeth Marcelo – alto Marius Evangelista – tenor Norm Evangelista – bass, piano, and GarageBand In the best of all that’s human, in the heart of what’s divine, shines the vision of compassion, in which all the goods align. In our caring for our neighbor, in rejecting all that harms, we will build the longed for city, a domain of open arms. When our politics are based on human dignity, not force, when religions all are guided by the love which is their source, when all spite, disdain and hatred has been banished from the Earth, then humanity, enlightened, will attain a second birth. So in oneness of our purpose, and in faiths’ diversity, celebrating many cultures, in the luminosity of compassion’s holy power to transcend our fear and pain, let the Earth and all her children that enduring peace attain.
