Generate custom Steel Take Off report with built-up section details- Theory and Application

For any steel project, MTO plays a vital role - from tendering to material procurement and fabrication, everywhere these information are required. Also, total steel quantity is very important for structural optimization. But it is very hard to get the required details directly from STAAD. Though we have specified all the information during model generation, still most of the required section details are not mentioned in the estimation report, like the plate details for any built-up or tapered section without which the estimation is incomplete. I have generated a custom user tool using which we can extract complete steel quantity information along with the flange and web plate details for any built-up section. This tool can also extract the design ratio, individual member length and interact with STAAD to generate custom display.
