The famous "Trollbar Problem" from philosophy is adapted to autonomous vehicles; different cultural approaches (MIT research) regarding whether a vehicle should save women or men, the elderly or children, a doctor or a thief in the event of an accident are discussed. Using the example of organ donation in a hospital, utilitarian ethics are criticized, explaining how running over an innocent pedestrian who is following the rules to save four passengers on the vehicle destroys social trust. Finally, the question of who would be legally liable in the event of an accident involving a driverless vehicle is explored.
