Visceral fat, which accumulates around internal organs like the liver, pancreas, and intestines, is the most dangerous type of fat. It not only increases the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension, but also leads to inflammation throughout the body. Unfortunately, it's also the hardest fat to burn. Why? Because it's strongly linked to hormones and the state of your nervous system. If insulin levels are constantly elevated and your body is under constant stress, visceral fat will accumulate, regardless of how many crunches you perform. 🔥 Key hormones affecting abdominal fat: ✔️ Insulin – a hormone responsible for regulating blood sugar levels. If you eat frequently, reach for processed foods, or snack between meals, your insulin levels are constantly elevated, which blocks fat burning. ✔️ Cortisol – a stress hormone that, in excess, leads to abdominal fat storage. Stress and lack of sleep are the main factors that increase cortisol levels, meaning your body will store fat as a form of protection. ✔️ Leptin and ghrelin – hunger and satiety hormones.
