Ukrainian fiddle tune- Bandura Waltz

This Ukrainian fiddle tune, the Bandura Waltz, is one of the best known and best loved folk tunes in Ukraine. In this lesson I give two versions of the tune; the first is simple, while the second has double stops to emphasise the chord changes. There is a rich tradition of Ukrainian fiddle music, and many musicians emigrated to Canada and the USA in the late 19th century. Paulo Humaniak was one such, and he began recording traditional Ukrainian material for OKEH records in 1924, including this tune. It has also been recorded by Canadian fiddlers such as Al Cherney and Graham Townsend. A free pdf copy of the sheet music for the Bandura Waltz is available to anyone who subscribes.
