The law amended the 2002 Civil Code, which limited the power of choice to the age of 60. Demonstrating that the law tends to evolve, on October 18, 2023, the Supreme Federal Court began judging whether the article of the Civil Code that establishes the mandatory separation of property regime when one of the people to be married is over 70 years old is constitutional.
