In Ukraine, it happens every day; in our country, it was one of the scenarios of the Joint Stars 2025 exercise, the most important test of the Defense. Under the direction of the Joint Operations Command, led by General Giovanni Maria Iannucci, land, air, and naval units trained alongside units from other state agencies, simulating a modern conflict, in which a "hybrid war" precedes and accompanies traditional combat. A true shock test, assessing the ability to confront forms of cyber, space, and informational aggression without relying on allies. For example, a complex assault was simulated, launched against southern Sardinia: first ten ballistic missiles, followed by a wave of cruise missiles and bomber drones. Protecting the island were the best European anti-aircraft systems: a Samp-T battery and the "Caio Duilio" destroyer. However, they were unable to stop all the ballistic missiles. Why? As General Nicola Piasente explains in this video, a "multilayered shield" is needed that can select a response to threats at different distances, and a satellite control network that can detect ballistic missiles when they launch.
