IMS2026 Spotlight:Anritsu Introduces the Tensor VNA with 4 Sources 8 Receivers and 220 GHz Expansion
At IMS 2026, Navneet Kataria, Director of Marketing at Anritsu, introduced the company's new Tensor Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), a next-generation platform designed for advanced RF, microwave, and frequency-conversion measurements. According to Anritsu, the Tensor VNA is available in configurations covering: • 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz • 10 MHz to 43.5 GHz One of the key innovations of the platform is its hardware architecture. Unlike traditional VNAs, the Tensor VNA incorporates one source per port and two receivers per source. In a four-port configuration, the instrument provides: • Four independent sources • Eight independent receivers • User access to sources and receivers • Dual coherent local oscillators This architecture enables a range of advanced measurements including: • Multi-frequency gain compression • Two-tone OIP3 measurements • Two-tone IIP3 measurements • IMD analysis • Vector mixer measurements • Multi-stage frequency converter characterization During the IMS 2026 demonstration, Anritsu showcased simultaneous gain compression, intercept point, and intermodulation measurements using multiple sources and receivers within the same instrument. The company also highlighted frequency-extension capabilities that allow the platform to support measurements up to 220 GHz using millimeter-wave modules. The Tensor VNA can also interface with third-party frequency extension solutions from suppliers such as VDI, OML, and Eravant. Key Features Highlighted: • Tensor VNA platform • 10 MHz to 43.5 GHz frequency coverage • Four sources • Eight receivers • Dual coherent LO architecture • Multi-frequency gain compression measurements • Vector mixer measurements • Frequency converter testing • Expansion up to 220 GHz Anritsu also introduced what it described as the world's first four-port 43.5 GHz automatic calibration kit, designed to accelerate calibration workflows for high-frequency multi-port measurements. According to Kataria, the Tensor VNA delivers sweep speeds as low as 6 microseconds per point.
