VLOG 33: Vishu Vlog | Vishukkani, Sadhya, Payasam | Indian Festival Away From Home

spent a quiet, simple Vishu here in Sydney, trying to recreate a little piece of home 🤍 this video is just me going through my festive prep — setting up the Vishukkani the night before, arranging flowers, and putting together small details that make the house feel festive. back home, my parents used to do all of this and I never really paid attention… but now, living away, I find myself holding on to these little traditions a lot more. I kept everything simple this time — just a bharani, some flowers from the garden, and a few traditional pieces I’ve collected over the years from India. it doesn’t take much, but it somehow brings that feeling of home. we also went with a frozen sadhya since it’s a weekday, but I still made two payasams at home — vermicelli payasam and ada pradhaman. tried using evaporated milk to save time (a little too rich this time 😅), but that’s part of the process. festivals always remind me of home and childhood, and setting all this up made me miss it a little more… but also feel closer to it in a way. hope this video brought you a bit of calm and peace 🤍 and if you’ve never tried a sadhya before, you definitely should at least once… it’s truly an experience.
