Flávia Pinto fala do RACISMO e MACHISMO contra as religiões de origem africana | Sexta Black
Luana Genót and Mãe Flávia Pinto discuss RELIGIOUS RACISM. Far beyond religious intolerance, religious racism is the way racism manifests itself in relation to people who are adherents of religions of African origin. For example, cases of terreiros (Afro-Brazilian religious centers) being invaded by armed men, or sacred objects being destroyed. Every day, more cases of religious violence are reported in Brazil. Flávia Pinto, as Babá de Umbanda (Umbanda priestess) of Casa do Perdão (House of Forgiveness), sociologist and writer, recounts the cases of religious racism she suffered simply for wearing her religious attire; she talks about how patriarchy is also embedded within religions and how sexism is part of this prejudice. She will also explain why everything that is not "white" is seen as of the devil. In addition to them, Professor Thula Pires explains what religious racism is and how it is used to maintain privileges. 00:38 Thula Pires explains the concept of religious racism. 01:10 Luana Génot shows how religious racism exists in Brazil, despite it being a secular country. 02:10 Flávia Pinto recounts when she discovered she was Black, being the daughter of an interracial couple. 03:01 Flávia Pinto explains how her clothes represent her religion and the prejudice she has suffered simply because of her attire. 04:17 Flávia Pinto recounts the beginning of her religious journey in Umbanda. 06:45 Luana and Flávia discuss the importance of anti-racist education to end prejudice. Flávia explains how religious racism began and how it serves an economic order. 08:30 Thula Pires explains how religious racism is used to try to sustain white privilege. 09:10 Flávia Pinto talks about her female leadership within Umbanda and her struggles against patriarchy. 12:14 Thula Pires discusses female representation within the leadership of religions of African origin and how this is also a source of racism and sexism. 13:00 Flávia Pinto explains the convergence of African and Indigenous entities in Umbanda. 14:54 Luana and Flavia discuss anti-racist and feminist agendas within Umbanda and Candomblé. 16:34 Flavia Pinto talks about the divergences in the sacred feminine as spoken by white women and by Black women. 18:18 Mãe Flavia Pinto talks about her work in prisons. 19:29 Flavia Pinto tells a story of religious racism she experienced on the subway. 20:36 Luana and Flavia discuss how to build an anti-racist future. #BlackFriday #FlaviaPinto #LuanaGénot #ThulaPires Subscribe to the GNT channel: http://bit.ly/canalGNT Watch full episodes on Globoplay + Channels: http://bit.ly/GloboplayCanaisGNT Website: https://gnt.globo.com/ Facebook: / gnt Instagram: / gnt Twitter: / canalgnt Pinterest: / canalgnt
