Food and Faith: A Theology of Eating
Norman Wirzba is Professor of Theology, Ecology, and Agrarian Studies at Duke Divinity School and Senior Fellow at Duke’s Kenan Institute for Ethics. He is the author of several books, including Food and Faith; Way of Love: Recovering the Heart of Christianity; and From Nature to Creation: A Christian Vision for Understanding and Loving Our World. He lectures frequently throughout North America and Europe. In "Food and Faith", Wirzba posits that in our eating we witness to the daily opportunity to reconcile relationships and build community–or not. This makes eating an action of the highest spiritual significance. At YDS, he will explore themes pertinent to a spirituality of eating—above all the deep theological significance of hospitality as humanity’s participation in God’s hospitable ways with the world.
