Hundreds of Aluminum Christmas Trees in One City and Their History
A lesser known fact, Corning, the blower of American-made glass Christmas tree ornaments, at one time, packed and sold bulbs with aluminum Christmas trees. They partnered with the Aluminum Specialty Company in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the first company to manufacture and mass market aluminum trees that were sold under the Evergleam brand. Every year, Manitowoc celebrates the distinction of being the hub of the cosmic 1960s Christmas trees. Join Jody on a spontaneous visit to see the trees, and interview the collectors who generously display hundreds of their trees for the annual Evergleams on Eighth exhibit. You’ll learn the years of aluminum tree manufacturing, the ingenious design, how to tell a straight needle model from one with fountain ends, the tree colors sold, and see rarer models that fetch a hefty price today. Merry Christmas!
