Jemal shows a trick installing Mk1 Mini door handle
One of the most tedious tasks on an early classic Mini has to be fiddling with the door latch and making the old fashioned door handle work without sagging. The "escutcheon", which is the part that the outside door handle fits into is notoriously difficult to install. It uses unique angled spacers that fit over the threaded bosses that poke through the door at an angle. There is no room to even see the inner one without a mirror, let alone get your hand in there to start a small screw while holding the spacer. I studied the problem and came up with a way to install a new latch and make it work perfect without using any British swear words!
