Chip budding an apple tree July 2013
I chip bud an apple tree, variety May Queen, on to MM106 root stock. I used an inappropriately large knife as that was all I had on me. Chip budding is done a little after midsummer, if the bud takes, you cut away the stock just above it in spring and it should grow away.
