I am here to be interviewed for an F-1 student visa that will allow me to travel to the US to pursue my master's degree in... at the University of XXXXX for a period of 2 years upon which I will return to Ghana to assume a higher role as Data Analyst at XXXX Company LTD where I currently work. Why are you going to the US? I am going to the US to pursue a two (2) year's master's degree in... at the University of XXXX that will give me the skills, knowledge and professional development that will prepare me to assume a higher role as a data analyst in my current organization upon my return to Ghana. Why are you going to the University of XXXX? I am going to the University of XXXX to pursue my master’s degree in ... for a period of 2 years. I applied to three schools and got admission to all three, thus; XXX,AAA, and BBB. But I chose the University of XXXX for two reasons. The first reason is the flexibility of the ....program. Why master's in applied Statistics? /what will this program do for you ? /how will you benefit from this program? Working as a data analyst at XXX company Ltd, I realized there is a growing need for statistical expertise to manage and derive meaningful insights from claims and GWP data to make well informed data driven decisions with regards to the inherent risks the company is exposed to. Pursuing master's degree in ....will give me the skills and knowledge in handling data and developing statistical models such as time series and financial models. Upon my return to Ghana I will apply the skills acquired in my role as a data analyst in the Data Analytics and Collections Unit at XXXX company LTd to help in ..... What is your study Plan? My master’s program in.... is a 2-year program. I will be taking a total of 33 credit units. In my first year, I will take courses such as Time Series, Linear Models, and statistical computing. In my second year, I will complete a capstone project in addition to other courses such as multivariate statistics and data communication. What are your postgraduate plans? I will return to Ghana to assume a higher role as Data Analyst at my current organization where I will apply the skills and knowledge acquired in making well informed data driven decisions to contribute to the growth of the organization. I have an approved study leave from my current employer, which will be paying me 50% of my annual gross pay while in school. How will your degree benefit Ghana? My ultimate long-term goal is to contribute to the advancement of STEM in Ghana by giving back to the community the skills and knowledge I have acquired and promote the country’s economic development using data by establishing a statistical consultancy firm in Ghana that will focus on providing data driven solutions to empower organizations to better understand the statistical aspects of their work. Why should I give you the visa? I believe I should be granted the F-1 student visa because I am committed to pursuing my academic goals in masters degree in statistics at the University of XXXX in the United States where I will gain the requisite skills and knowledge to pick up a higher role as a data analyst at my current organization upon my return to Ghana after completion of my 2 years graduate program. Who is sponsoring you? My father has renovated 4 apartments which are 2 bedrooms in one. And these apartments will be put up to rent to raise ¢8000.00 every month. This rent income will be used to settle the monthly interest on the loan so that it wouldn't accumulate as I focus on my studies. Then after my studies, I have a promotional offer to become the IT analyst at my institution where I work. With this opportunity, I will earn more than ¢380,000 annually and I will use 50% of this income to settle the rest of the loan in instalments using less than the 10-year repayment plan from Mpower financing.
