In January 2025, I purchased my first winter-type tuberous bareroot plants, Chilecodon reticulatus and Monsonia multifida, from @hakoneko_plants on Yahoo! Auctions. This video shows how to manage the rooting of Chilecodon reticulatus (Japanese name: Banbutsu-so). The two things I kept in mind when managing the rooting were temperature and root rot. As it is a winter-type tuberous plant, its growth season is from fall to winter, and temperatures are lower than for summer plants, so I kept the temperature at a minimum of 15°C (mornings) and a maximum of just under 30°C. I had read several cases where cutting the roots to manage rooting resulted in root rot, so I planted it without cutting the roots. To prevent overheating, I watered it only after the pot was dry, and used a heating mat without placing it on the pot. I'm not sure if this method is correct, but I hope it's helpful.
