It went into production in a slightly changed form just three years later. But in the rich history of the Boxster, there is only one roadster that keeps close to the original concept of the open two seater. With the concept car Boxster; the engineering and design departments looked at the historic model of the Porsche brand? What type? It was the 550 Spyder. It was compact, fully open, puristic and viable. Consisting of only the 911 back in 1993; the Porsche management decided to extend the product portfolio. The 911 was not even selling that well at the time. By sharing many components of the next generation of the 911, Porsche managed to save a lot of money on development costs.
