Cinema at home: The Empire Strikes Back (recreating Odeon cinema 1980 intro reel)

The much-anticipated sequel to Star Wars arrived on UK screens in May 1980. You might have visited the Odeon Leicester Square to enjoy it in all its 70mm glory, though of course it was also easy to find at Odeons throughout the rest of the nation. The distributor, Fox UK, attached the short film Black Angel as a supporting feature. Made as a side project by art director Roger Christian, it's an intriguing and atmospheric work, though must have made for quite an endurance test for those waiting eagerly to watch Empire for the first time!
