State Representative Carlos Giannazi made a serious accusation regarding the authoritarian expansion of the PEI program in São Paulo state schools. According to the legislator, school communities are being pressured to accept the full-time education model even without adequate infrastructure, lacking teachers, laboratories, sports courts, and minimum operating conditions. Giannazi warned that the program drastically reduces the number of school places, pushing hundreds of students into distant and overcrowded units. He also denounced the closure of night school and adult education programs, primarily harming working students and young people from the periphery. The representative announced that he is requesting the summoning of the Secretary of Education to the Education Committee of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) to explain the accusations and demanded respect for the democratic management of public schools.
