Heeresübung 1985 "Trutzige Sachsen"

Under the motto "Wat mutt dat mutt" (What must be, must be), the army exercise "Trutzige Sachsen" (Defiant Saxons) was conducted from September 12th to 20th, 1985, under the command of the I.(GE) Corps in an area south of Hamburg between Bremervörde, Bremen, Minden, Hanover, and Lüneburg. In addition to units of the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), Dutch, British, and American troops participated in the maneuver, comprising a total of approximately 60,000 soldiers, 18,000 wheeled vehicles, and 3,300 tracked vehicles.
