ROMAN FEDIURKO | Solo Final – 14th International German Piano Award
Program Third Stage: ALEXANDER SCRIABIN: Sonata No. 2 in G-sharp minor “Sonata-Fantasy,” Op. 19 ISAAC ALBÉNIZ: Triana, from “Iberia,” Book II FRÉDÉRIC CHOPIN: Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58 Raised in Kyiv, Roman Fediurko’s musical journey began with what he describes as “a child’s fascination with the idea of the piano—from a toy keyboard at a birthday party to the beautifully carved instruments in dance studios.” He began studying with Galina Kotsyuba at the age of five and remained under her guidance for the next twelve years. Roman credits her as “the person who nurtured my love for music, who taught me most of what I know and believe in, who instilled the right values, and shaped me into the person I am today.” His artistic and professional development was later entrusted to Milana Chernyavska, with whom he has been studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria since 2021. Under her mentorship, Roman has continued to refine his artistry and reach new levels of pianistic mastery. A scholar of the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, Roman has achieved numerous first prizes at international competitions, including the Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition (Geneva), the Bösendorfer USASU Competition (Tempe), and the Robert Schumann Competition (Düsseldorf). In 2023, he recorded the album Kaleidoscope (ARS Produktion) together with his then 13-year-old brother Oleksandr, featuring a selection of solo and piano duo works. His next recording project will be dedicated to the piano works of Robert Schumann. Recent highlights of his performance career include appearances at the Salle Cortot (Paris), Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Konzerthaus Wien, and the DMZ Open Festival, as well as a 2025 Steinway Prizewinner Concerts tour of Germany, culminating in his debut at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. His concert engagements have also taken him to France, Italy, Austria, Liechtenstein, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Romania, and South Korea.
