In today's video, we are putting a natural pest control theory to the test using dried bamboo sticks to build custom dragonfly perches! Since dragonflies are absolute machines when it comes to eating mosquitoes, giving them a perfect place to sit, hunt, and survey the area can help attract them right to the trouble zones. I'll take you along step-by-step as I prep the bamboo: Cutting the base of the dried sticks at a sharp 45-degree angle so they easily drive into the ground. Trimming the tops perfectly flat to create a stable, inviting landing pad for the dragonflies. Cleaning off all the dried-up leaves to leave a clean, professional finish. After crafting about a dozen of these perches, I'll show you some footage of the local dragonflies down by the creek to show you exactly what we're trying to attract. Finally, we'll head out to the heaviest mosquito areas on the property to strategically place the perches where they will do the most damage.
