Rockhounding Oregon - Augite Crystals

#crystals #oregon #rockhounding Today we went to collect some Augite crystals outside of Tillamook, Oregon. The crystals are a 3rd of a mile from the parking spot and they are easy to pick up. There is a steep incline to the tippy top where most of the Tuff is located but the crystals are located all over the cliffside. All you need is your fingers and a collection container for this site. It also helps to have 4x4 vehicle to get to the parking area that I was at. *DISCLAIMER: Do not lead by my example of using one rock hammer on another rock hammer as a chisel. Doing so can result in pieces of metal breaking off at high velocity and can cause injury.
