Lighting the Fire Episode 3: A Pact Was Made

A pact was made. It was already in the moments after Jim Walmsley had lit himself on fire playing with fireworks, burning out chasing an audacious sub-14 goal at the 2017 Western States Endurance Run, that a new spark was lit. Jim had blown up and was a wreck walking it in after deciding to drop and the Coconino Cowboys had run out help bring him in. To cheer him up the group, inspired by Jim’s run and being blown away from all of their first time experiencing the historical ultra, began talking about how awesome it would be to have everyone try and join him the following year. The idea struck a chord and the Cowboys made a pact to all try and get into the big dance in 2018.
