Joseph Duggar Arrested: The Family Pattern That Was Always There

One brother is in federal prison. Now another has been arrested on serious charges involving a minor. And according to reporting, the family's response — again — was to handle it internally, through the church, away from law enforcement. This week on Hidden Killers, Tony Brueski and retired FBI Behavioral Analysis Chief Robin Dreeke go beyond the arrest of Joseph Duggar — seventh child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar — to examine the architecture underneath it. According to a Bay County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit, Joseph allegedly harmed a young girl on multiple occasions during a 2020 family vacation in Florida. The victim, now a teenager, came forward during a forensic interview years later. When her father reportedly confronted Joseph directly, he allegedly admitted it. When a detective was quietly placed on that same call, he allegedly admitted it again. The Duggar family has been here before. Josh Duggar is currently serving 12 and a half years in federal prison following a 2021 federal conviction. Before that conviction, he had been found to have harmed five young victims — four of them his own sisters — between 2002 and 2003. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar knew. They chose church counseling. The statute of limitations ran out. No charges were filed.
