Paint with me and Rembrandt! A close study of Rembrandt's painting technique.

Let's paint along with Rembrandt and see what we can learn from him. In a previous video we looked at three fascinating value transitions that Rembrandt utilizes. In this video, we are going to create 3 very simple studies to emulate these transitions. This is not a painting video, in that it is not a painting tutorial, and you don't have to paint to enjoy it. The idea is to use a very simple model to better understand how Rembrandt uses these value transitions. If you are a painter, or interested in painting, this presents a simple model for studying the work of a great master. If you are not a painter but are interested in art, this video is a way to gain some insight into a key aspect of Rembrandt's work. We will use gouache in this example but you could use any medium such as watercolor, oil paint, acrylics, pastel, or even collage.
