This new G20 version of the Anschutz rimfire sporter represents the pinnacle of rimfire design and accuracy in a compact hunting format. Anschutz are good at suppling their rifles in both right and left handed options and the 1761 is also offered in a variety stock designs of which we have the traditional looking and handling Classic walnut stock variant. You also have a choice of trigger mechanism to further “customise” the Classic to your own preferences, ie single or double stage units and also a choice of differing bolt knobs, muzzle thread pitches, scope mounting options and even polymer or aluminium trigger guard’s. This G20 model is unashamedly aimed at the real hunter who appreciates all the Match winning qualities that Anschutz are renowned for but condensed down into a no-nonsense compact hunting rifle. As such gone are the sleek lines of the older rounded profile 54 and 64 rimfire actions and in with the newer squarer looking and compact 1761 design. With the option of four barrel lengths too you can fit a sound moderator without affecting balance and the whole Classic ethos of “just get the job done” echoes in this format. In fact at 36 inches and the 18 inch .17 HMR barrel option on test with its deliberate ambidextrous ergonomics stock fully exploits the fine handling qualities of this trim little sporting rifle. Ideal for lugging about all day, shooting from a concealed vantage point or whilst lamping from a 4x4.
