What is Calorimetry? What is Direct Calorimetry?? What Is Calorimetry?? Methods of Calorimetry??
Chapter 11 | Lec 06 | What is Calorimetry? What is Direct Calorimetry? Chemistry Class 11 Outlines of this video lecture; 1. Change in enthalpy in a chemical reaction 2. A calorimeter Is an apparatus used for the measurement of enthalpy 3. For measuring enthalpy there are two methods 4. Direct calorimetry and indirect calorimetry 5. Structure for direct calorimetry 6. Only those reaction enthalpy changes can measure indirect calorimetry where there is no side reaction 7. A direct calorimeter is made up of glass and insulated 8. The equation for direct calorimeter 9. In case of endothermic reaction temperature of the system decreases.10. In case of exothermic reaction temperature of the system increases 11. Direct calorimetry obtains a direct measurement of the amount of heat generated by the body within a structure large enough to permit moderate amounts of activity. These structures are called whole-room calorimeters. Direct calorimetry provides a measure of energy expended in the form of heat. The technique of direct calorimetry has several disadvantages. The structure is costly, requires complex engineering, and appropriate facilities are scarce around the world. Subjects must remain in a physically confined environment for long periods. In addition, direct calorimetry does not provide any information about the nature of substrates that are being oxidized to generate energy within the body. ================================================= Watch all Lectures Physics Chapter 01: • CH 1: Measurement | Lec 01: What Are Physi...
