Lucky Dube Interview Clips-89, 91

For fans of Lucky Dube, I know that any old and unseen footage is precious. Here are some excerpts from two of the interview that Lucky did for Reggae Strong over the years. The first interview was recorded just after he arrived in NYC (1989) for his very first American tour and it was conducted by Stafford Ashani, our director. The second set of clips were taped in August 1991, in Philadelphia, not long after Lucky had returned from performing at Reggae Sunsplash in Jamaica. The Philadelphia performance was the last stop on his third tour of the U.S. What's striking now, is seeing It's how much Lucky had matured in those two years. Note: when we shot interviews for Reggae Strong, our voices were usually not included on-air. We asked questions and had our guests speak directly to camera. This is especially obvious in my Philadelphia interview—I was not really properly recorded and was speaking very casually. Sorry about that! Hope you enjoy watching these unscripted moments.
