This beautiful hymn reminds us of the eternal home promised to every believer — a city not built with hands, but whose architect and builder is God (Hebrews 11:10). As you listen, let your heart be drawn heavenward to that “wonderful place we call home,” where Christ has gone to prepare a place for us (John 14:2-3). In this divine city — the New Jerusalem — there will be no more sorrow, no more death, and no more pain (Revelation 21:4). It’s a place of perfect peace, where the presence of God is the light (Revelation 21:23), and where the redeemed will dwell in eternal joy with their Savior. What hope we have in knowing that “our citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20), and that Jesus Himself is preparing a mansion with our name on it.
