INSTALL & PLAY — The Retro Console Ecosystem We Should Have Had What started as a cheap £55 office PC slowly evolved into something much bigger: a unified retro console ecosystem built around real physical media, preservation, authentic BIOS experiences, and seamless console-style interaction. This project isn’t just about emulation. It’s about preserving: • the media • the interaction • the ritual • and the feeling of physical gaming itself Because what finally made this start feeling like a real console again wasn’t just fullscreen gaming or BIOS screens… It was reconnecting the experience back to physical media. Inserting the disc. Hearing the drive spin up. Seeing the BIOS. Entering that console’s world.
