Soon after the incident, the Godhra Fire Department, 108 Emergency Services and railway officials rushed to the spot. Fire personnel used a gas cutter to open part of the lift structure and safely rescue all six passengers after nearly one hour of rescue efforts. Thankfully, no casualties were reported, but the incident has triggered serious questions over the quality of work at the newly redeveloped Godhra Junction, built at a cost of ₹6.17 crore. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the lift malfunction.
