The Carlit peak is the highest peak in the Eastern Pyrenees, with its 2921 m. It is also a summit known to be impossible to climb by bike... And indeed, the normal route is completely impossible. What to do in this case? Don't go by the normal route, of course! ;) The north-west couloir of Lanoux is much wilder, much more hostile... but it allows an almost complete riding provided that you are not afraid to engage your bike in ultra steep slopes and crumbling large blocks. All in all, it is a magnificent route, but also very long, with an entire valley to climb, another summit to go around, a long alpine plateau to cross before finding yourself right at the foot of the difficulties, at the foot of this spectacular peak and its 400 m face. If I did it right at the start of winter, it's to be sure not to find anyone in the north-west face and not to risk putting anyone in danger with potential rock falls.
