High in the mountains, Don Negro Papo and his sister Ana embody a traditional Dominican scene. Together, they light the wood-burning stove, cook Creole dishes, and prepare coffee using the classic cloth filter, creating a beverage that captures the authentic aroma of the earth and the countryside. The work begins when smoke starts to rise from the burning wood. On the traditional stove, the siblings prepare simple yet comforting dishes, such as boiled plantains with meat. The wood crackles and the heat warms their faces as they share laughter and preserve the culinary traditions of their rural roots.
