A scandal is raging at a Russian theater school. Students at the Yekaterinburg State Theatre Institute (EGTI) are accusing a teacher of sexual harassment. Numerous witnesses claim that director Alexander Blinov spanks the girls, makes inappropriate compliments, invites them to spend the night at his home, texts them at night, and takes them to restaurants. Even if none of this formally violates the law, how does it affect the educational process? Does it constitute abuse of office? And should the university take action? A similar scandal occurred in the past, when Alexander Blinov made a show of resigning from EGTI. But students say he returned soon after—and the cycle started all over again.
