Arteza Gouache Metallic & 60 Color Set Review

Arteza Gouache Metallic & 60 Color Set Review I have been using the 24 color set of Arteza gouache for a year and loving it. Let's see who the 60 color set and metallic color set compare! Product overview: Arteza gouache is an affordable student grade gouache available is sets of 12, 24 and 60. FYI Affiliate links are used in this review. These can be purchased on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2UWdlui Or directly from the Arteza Website: http://shrsl.com/1fytz *use coupon code FRUGAL10 to get 10% off your order on the arteza website only. *I recommend price checking both places Pros: Price Pigment information and lightfast ratings on each color. Smooth opaque colors Saturated colors mix cleanly Color selection is nice No issues with cracking or adhesion Worked well as a layer in mixed media Perfect velvet matte finish Cons: No open stock colors I didn't realize that the 60 color set contained the metallic colors so I didn't need both. Also the 24 colors are in there two so if you were thinking about getting the 24 set and the metallic ones you will get 24 extra colors if you get the 60 set instead for about the same price. Gouache 60 color set on Arteza $49.99 http://shrsl.com/1fyvx (also use 10% off coupon FRUGAL10) 60 color set on Amazon for $63.80 + $4.99 shiping: https://amzn.to/2Ib9qIj Let's looks at the 12 set of metallic colors. Amazon $23.99 https://amzn.to/2GlDfnZ or Arteza website $25.98 http://shrsl.com/1fyvk These colors are very opaque with a subtle pearl sheen. The color does not change when tipped towards or away from the light as metallic watercolors do so you can be sure your artwork will look the same no mater what angle it is viewed from or if it is behind glass. These colors are also true on light or dark paper so no surprises. They are great for rescuing a failed watercolor too! The downside is you don't get the flashy shimmer like you do with metallic watercolors like the Paul Rubens metallic watercolors I compared in the video. https://amzn.to/2BzmZLZ Bottom line: I have been using the original 24 set for a year and love it, It is very slow wearing so it really goes a long way. I hope they eventually come out with open stock colors so I can purchase larger tubes of the ones I run out of but since they give 2 whites in the sets it should keep me a while and I can always but that color from another brand and it will work fine. You can search arteza gouache on my YouTube channel and see these paints in action if you like. I can't recommend them highly enough for the price and quality.
