The police are granted the following rights to perform their duties: 1. to demand that citizens and officials cease unlawful actions, as well as actions that impede the lawful activities of state and municipal bodies, deputies of legislative (representative) bodies of state power, deputies of representative bodies of municipalities, members of election commissions, referendum commissions, and the activities of public associations; 2) to require citizens, upon request, to state their last name, first name, and patronymic; to check the identity documents of citizens if there is evidence providing grounds to suspect them of committing a crime or to believe that they are wanted, or if there is reason to initiate administrative proceedings against these citizens, as well as if there are grounds for their detention in cases stipulated by federal law, to take measures to identify these individuals; Check the permits (licenses) and other documents of citizens, officials, public associations, and organizations for certain actions or activities, the control (supervision) of which is assigned to the police in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation; (as amended by Federal Law No. 424-FZ of 21.12.2021) IV. Stopping a Vehicle 47. In order to fulfill their duties assigned to the police to ensure road safety, an officer has the right to stop a vehicle: -------------------------------- Clause 20, Part 1, Article 13 of the Federal Law "On Police". 47.1. If evidence is discovered or available indicating a violation of Russian Federation road safety legislation, the driver and/or passengers' involvement in an offense, or the use of a vehicle for illegal purposes (including the commission of a crime or administrative offense with their participation), or if there is reason to believe that the vehicle is wanted or has been involved in an accident. 47.2. To verify documents authorizing the use and operation of the vehicle, vehicle and cargo documents; compliance with driving and rest time standards, and the driver's work and rest schedule in cases stipulated by Russian Federation legislation. When contacting a citizen, a police officer: 5.
