This episode was filmed on July 2 and 3, 2025. It follows a trip on the Kholmsk-Vanino ferry from Sakhalin to the mainland in a 10-berth cabin in the hold. You'll learn where and how to buy tickets for this ferry, and how difficult it is to book. You'll also learn how and from where the bus picks you up for boarding. You'll see what the cheapest 10-berth cabin looks like, resembling a prison cell with bunks, and what amenities are available on board. We'll visit the dining room, where they only serve boiling water, the communal showers, and the stern, which serves as the main attraction because smoking is allowed there. The entire ferry has a Soviet-era atmosphere with outdated rules, such as requiring you to turn in your linen an hour and a half in advance, prohibiting you from going on deck while boarding, prohibiting you from taking pictures, and there's no online booking system or cashless payment. Everything is by phone and paper money only. Overall, the trip turned out to be quite atmospheric! Season 1 of URTV's Asian Trip 2.0 was filmed from June 17 to July 7, 2025, and includes 21 episodes along the route Sochi - Moscow - Kamchatka - Sakhalin - Vladivostok - Sochi. We had to return to Sochi because our passport was still at the Japanese consulate. The trip had to be split into two seasons, so this first season only covers Russia, while Season 2 will focus on Korea, China, and Japan (though Japan is still in question). Nevertheless, the trip was definitely awesome and rich in content.
