Leve sua causa aos pés de Jesus | Pregação sobre Lucas 5 | Pastor Paulo Seabra
The faith that overcomes obstacles is born when people decide to join forces to bring someone into the presence of Jesus. In Luke 5, four men carry a paralytic, face a crowded house, and, finding no way through, seek an alternative: they climb onto the roof and lower their friend before the Lord. They did not cross their arms, they did not give up in the face of the crowd, and they did not allow the difficulty to interrupt their journey. Jesus, seeing their faith, recognized a trust that perseveres, overcomes barriers, and only rests when it entrusts its cause to the one who has all power. Upon receiving the paralytic, Jesus surprises everyone by declaring: “Man, your sins are forgiven.” The friends expected a physical cure, while the scribes and Pharisees sought an opportunity to accuse him. However, Jesus knew the thoughts and intentions of each heart. To demonstrate that the Son of Man has the authority to forgive sins, he commanded the paralytic: “Get up, take your mat and go home.” The man immediately got up and went out glorifying God. The visible miracle confirmed an even greater reality: Jesus came not only to restore the body, but to rescue from death to life and save from eternal condemnation. Those four friends represent a church that prays, intercedes, and helps those who, at a given moment, cannot walk alone. God can use our lives to carry someone who is weakened, sick, discouraged, or surrounded by difficulties. Therefore, the necessary question is: can the Lord see in us this faith that trusts, perseveres, and does not break in the face of opposition? True faith seeks paths, finds solutions, and continues to advance. It leads us to the presence of Jesus, recognizing that the power is not in the church, the preacher, or the people, but in the Lord, God of creation, before whom we place our minds, our hearts, our families, and all our causes. We will not always immediately understand what God is doing. Often we await an answer while He works in another way, at the right time and according to a reason that will only be understood later. "He is still writing your story"; the final period has not yet been placed. Therefore, the gospel is not merely a theory to be debated, but the power of God for all who believe, a message that must be accepted, practiced, and experienced. He who arrived burdened returned walking and glorifying God. Likewise, we must bring our problems to the Lord's feet, trust in His authority, and not allow anything along the way to discourage us, for faith will face obstacles, but will continue to advance until it reaches God's precious grace. Pastor Paulo Seabra is an experienced pastor both in church management and in preaching and teaching. He actively participated in the history of Baptists in Brazil and in Ceará. He pastored many churches throughout his life, always with a structural, conceptual, and multiplying vision.
