Save £££: Driver Seat to Single Passenger Conversion! | MAN TGE / VW Crafter DIY

Converting a MAN TGE / VW Crafter driving seat into a single passenger seat is surprisingly simple and dramatically cheaper than buying a factory single seat, which can be mega expensive. In this video, I show my full DIY process I used for my 4x4 overland camper build. The driver and passenger seat bases are almost identical, aside from being mirrored. I ordered a genuine MAN single passenger seat base directly using part codes, although mine arrived as the European driver-side version, meaning I had to remove the handbrake bracket. The biggest challenge in this conversion is the seatbelt buckle bracket, which isn’t sold as a standalone OEM part. Some aftermarket versions exist but were unavailable, so I made my own using 5 mm folded mild steel, cut and drilled to match the original (but much stronger). This only required basic tools: a drill and either a grinder or a Dremel.
