Do You Feel Wives Should Submit To Their Husbands? They Say It's Best Way For Marriage To Succeed

As many of you know, I am a collector old 16mm films, especially ones that deal with the social issues Americans and others were involved with over the last 60 years, especially the 1950s and 1960s. The organization that is being shown in this documentary is called Fascinating Womanhood, and they had a rather precisely developed set of techniques that held the man from going astray. Reducing or eliminating extramarital affairs. It involved basically doing what your husband wanted and needed and putting yourself aside as his wife. It was based on certain Christian values but not connected to the church in any way. The organization still exists. And I know that some percentage of women practice what they taught and believe it is the "right thing to do." I can't speak to that but for myself, my wife would be sickened by having to behave in this way. I do believe that a strong marriage is one of the best most wonderful experiences in life and hope it for everyone watching this clip. There have been so many comments by subscribers and viewers presenting different points of view towards this issue. Some feels strongly that women should stand by and support their men and be subservient to them. Some feel that will make the strongest marriage and partnership. Some feel that God has designed marriage that way – that women should be second to their husbands. Some commentators indicate that this works for them. Others feel exactly the opposite. They describe abusive relationships where the boss, the man, is abusive and often times wrong in his judgment that he knows better than she does. In my own relationship which is very successful, we have different strengths my wife and I put in many many areas, she is more right than I am because she is using a gut instinct that I just don’t seem to have. When it comes to my filmmaking, I’m the best add it and she feels that I am a very good dad. I'm the best at that. And some other areas as well. But in many many areas of our lives, certainly in the personal areas like our home and the food we eat and who to trust, it is she and her incredible gut instinct that drives us both in certain directions and towards certain people and away from others.
