OM NAMAH SHIVAYA | 3 Hour Shiva Mantra for Calm, Healing & Inner Peace | Deep Meditation
ॐ नमः शिवाय Om Namaḥ Śivāya — The Panchakshara Mantra of Lord Shiva 3 Hours · Complete Loop · 432Hz · Monday Prayer · Mahashivratri ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ॥ मंत्र ॥ ॐ नमः शिवाय ॥ IAST TRANSLITERATION ॥ Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya ॥ WORD BY WORD MEANING ॥ ॐ (Om) — The primordial sound. The first vibration of creation. The seed-syllable of the universe. नमः (Namaḥ) — I bow. I offer salutation. I surrender. Literally: not mine — the negation of ego. शिवाय (Śivāya) — To Shiva. The dative case of Shiva. Shiva means: the auspicious one, the benign one, the one in whom all auspiciousness and grace resides. COMPLETE MEANING: I surrender my limited self to the infinite auspicious consciousness that is Shiva — who is both within me and beyond all of creation. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ॥ THE FIVE SYLLABLES — PANCHAKSHARA ॥ The mantra without Om is called the Panchakshara — the five-syllable mantra. Each syllable is one of the five elements (Pancha Tattva) of creation: Na (न) — Prithvi — Earth Ma (म) — Jal — Water Shi (शि) — Agni — Fire Va (व) — Vayu — Air Ya (य) — Akasha — Ether / Space Chanting these five syllables aligns the devotee with all five elements and with Shiva, who is their source and lord. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ॥ SCRIPTURE SOURCE ॥ This mantra originates in the Shri Rudram — the eighth anuvaka of the Namakam section of the Taittiriya Samhita (TS 4.5.8.1) of the Krishna Yajurveda. Original Vedic form (without Om): नमः शिवाय च शिवतराय च Namaḥ śivāya ca śivatarāya ca Salutations to Shiva the auspicious one, and to Shivatara — the one than whom none more auspicious can exist. The Om prefix was added in the Agamic Shaiva tradition making it the Shadakshara (six-syllable) form universally recited today. The mantra also appears in the Shukla Yajurveda's Rudrashtadhyayi (Chapter 5, verse 41) and is extolled throughout the Shiva Purana as the supreme mantra of the entire Shaiva tradition. Age: in continuous chanting for at least 3,000 years. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ॥ DEITY ADDRESSED ॥ Lord Shiva in his auspicious, benign aspect — as Maheshwara and as the Panchakshara deity. The Shiva Purana records that this mantra was first taught by Shiva himself to Goddess Parvati. It is the primary daily japa at all twelve Jyotirlingas — Kashi Vishwanath, Kedarnath, Somnath, Rameshwaram, and the remaining eight sacred Shiva shrines. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ॥ WHEN IS THIS MANTRA RECITED ॥ → Every Monday — the day sacred to Lord Shiva → During Mahashivratri — the great night of Shiva worship (Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi) → During Sawan (Shravan) month — July to August → 108 times daily using a rudraksha mala → At all Shiva temples as the morning and evening primary chant → During illness, grief, and life transitions — Shiva as Mrityunjaya presides over all crossings ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ॥ ABOUT THIS RECORDING ॥ A 3-hour continuous devotional loop of Om Namah Shivaya for Monday morning puja, Mahashivratri night vigil, evening Shiva worship, and meditative listening. A: Om is the primordial sound of the universe. Namah means I bow or I surrender — literally not mine, the negation of the ego. Shivaya means to Shiva in the dative case — to the auspicious one. Together: I surrender my ego to the divine consciousness that is Shiva. Q: What are the five syllables of the Panchakshara? A: The five syllables Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya correspond to the five elements: Na = earth, Ma = water, Shi = fire, Va = air, Ya = ether. Chanting them together purifies all five elements within the practitioner simultaneously. Q: Where does Om Namah Shivaya come from? A: The Shri Rudram, eighth anuvaka of the Namakam, Taittiriya Samhita of the Krishna Yajurveda (TS 4.5.8.1) — dated to approximately 1000–1200 BCE. One of the oldest continuously chanted mantras in existence. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ SacredLoop — Hear it. Know it. Offer it.
