Can you really survive on just 100 baht in Klong Toei, Bangkok’s largest slum and wet market in Thailand? 🇹🇭 Today, I explored one of the most misunderstood areas in Bangkok to see what real daily life looks like beyond the luxury malls and tourist spots. From wet market food prices to emotional moments walking alone through the alleys of Klong Toei, this experience completely changed how I see travel, survival, and the reality of life in big cities. Today was not about luxury travel. It was about seeing the real Bangkok. I challenged myself to survive on only 100 baht while exploring Klong Toei Market and the surrounding slum community. Many people warned me not to go here alone as a Filipina traveler, but what I found was something very different from the scary stories online. The people were busy working, surviving, selling food, and living their everyday lives. It reminded me so much of the Philippines and how many Asian families struggle and hustle daily just to survive inflation and rising costs. I didn’t finish the day with a full stomach… but I finished it with a full heart. This side of Bangkok is rarely shown on social media, but I believe travel is not only about beautiful malls, luxury hotels, and Instagram spots.
