The Island of Unemployed Hippies in Lao's 🇱🇦

It won't be long before this backpacker island in Laos is taken over by hippies. We're on Don Det, which is part of the 4000 Islands in Laos. We're not far from the ferry station, and this area is important because it's the center of the nightlife, with all the restaurants and bars you're looking for if you get bored of just sitting in your bungalow. You won't see any crazy hippies in action in this video, but if you stay for a while, you'll notice that some backpackers here take a more liberal attitude to chemical use and max out their visas. And to show you how easy it is to have a good life on this island, you'll see some bungalows you can rent for under $10 a day—just less than a 1-minute walk from the Mekong River. The area where we're filming is mainly home to long-term backpackers, and they aren't that interested in foreign tourists, as far as I've seen.
